The Digital Business

A video of a cute baby will have you re-thinking your marketing plan.

It seems as though these days we’re always talking about social media and convincing clients to embrace new developments in technology. Things change so quickly these days that I can understand how some people might see it as nothing more than a fad. However, the next time I come across someone who seems to think that they don’t need to explore the idea of digital, mobile or social media marketing, I’ll probably just show them this video. It’s a 1-year-old baby, attempting to look at a magazine. A magazine that she thinks is an iPad that doesn’t work, because she only knows how to use an iPad. It’s pretty amazing.

It’s a cute video, but it also makes an important point: there’s a whole generation of people in the world that have had access to computers, smartphones and tablets since birth. There are 30-somethings who have been using computers since they started school. Those are the people you will be marketing to, or perhaps already are. It’s something to think about when you are looking at what to include in your marketing plan.
